Dr Yee was qualified as a medical practitioner, obtaining his MBBS from the University of Sydney in 1994. He then became involved in basic science research from 2001 – 2003. He spent 2004 in Scotland where he worked as a general surgical registrar in Glasgow at the Victoria Infirmary and in Aberdeen, at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a locum plastic surgical registrar. He started formal surgical training in General Surgery in 2005, and in 2009 obtained his FRACS from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
He was appointed the Senior Registrar at Bankstown Hospital in 2010. At the end of 2010, he undertook some training at the Upper GI Unit of the University of Malaya Medical Centre with Professor Kin Fah Chin.
He then underwent subspecialty training as an Australia and New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Surgery Association (ANZGOSA) Fellow at the John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle and the St George Hospital at Kogarah in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
He commenced work as a consultant general surgeon doing locum work as a general surgeon at the Rockhampton Base Hospital in Rockhampton, the St George Hospital at Kogarah and the Sutherland Hospital at Caringbah.
He currently operates at the Sutherland Hospital, Kareena Private Hospital, St George Private Hospital and the Sydney Private Hospitals. He consults out of private rooms at the St George Private Hospital Medical Centre, the Sydney Institute of Obesity Surgery at the Sydney Private Hospital.
